To get there we crossed some serious mountains, but Tibby helped. We had 80 deg temps but it dropped a lot at elevation. The highest elevation I saw on the GPS was 6,900 feet. The grades were not extreme...the V10 never really strained. It was a great road even if there is no shoulder most of the way and they don't spend a lot on guard rails. Never worried though, just took it slow and easy. The pictures don't do it justice. Reminder that you can click on a picture and make it bigger.
BTW, a great custom on roads like this: if you come up on a truck going real slow upgrade, he will turn his left turn signal on when it looks to him that it is safe to pass him. (Or maybe he's turning left :-))....you can tell.
We left at 0930 and arrived at 1600. About 200 miles. Once we passed the mountains, it was dual lane, good roads the whole way.
Las Palmas is our hotel LINK. They have a huge RV parking area in the back for only $20/day. Excellent wifi and good electric. Pictures tomorrow. We paid for 2 nights but may stay longer.
Oh, and they have an excellent restaurant. Excellent food and service. Inexpensive compared to the US. What you see below + 2 margaritas, 2 glasses of wine, 2 coffees, 1 Courvoisier Cognac was $61. (Yeah, we went high on the hog but it was a great occasion)
And the waiters are in full uniform |
Salmon with delicate cream sauce |
Look at the asparagus presentation. |
As good as it looks |
We always enjoy the Las Palmas. The showers are great as well with lots of hot water.
