Haircuts (and eating) (GTO)

Robin's been fussing about her hair being too long so we found a salon just up the road. What a find! Very modern with the nicest young lady ever owner. She said she didn't speak English but the more we tried, it started coming back to her. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the experience very much. Robin is VERY pleased and I'm happy with mine too. Cost? 200 peso's total ($11.62 for two haircuts!)  Plus tip, of course.
Robin & Dany

Dany gave us a great idea for a restaurant up in the mountains: "Restaurant La Sierra" WEB SITE. We're going there in a few hours so check back.
Awesome food, yet again, and bevs for $26

Near the restaurant was a pottery factory/store. We expected a single floor with a few samples. Wrong! 3 jaw dropping floors. If we had a house, the RV would have been full. Absolutely amazing place.

Anne: lo and behold they had the pitchers The Columbia uses for sangria, complete with The Columbia name. Guess they make them there.

Here's a link to the store CLICKY I sneaked 2 pictures that don't do the magnitude justice:

Guanajuato from on high

Legs were sore from yesterday so we did a driving tour. Guanajuato (aka GTO) is in a valley of high mountains. Robin just read that it looks like 2 frogs so that's why we see ceramic frogs everywhere. Anyway, we climbed the mountain cobble stone roads in our beloved Saturn taking a zillion pictures.

We stopped at a popular place in the road and our new best friend Francisco guided us into a slot that had to be illegal. 10 peso (58 cents) coin and we got the point at the eye signal that says he'd watch the car and no problem with the police. Then we bought 2 great GTO picture and story books for $8 and that sealed it...BFF's. Seriously, though, he was a nice guy trying to make a living and wasn't trying to screw us.

We then continued down the hill and stopped for lunch. Since we blew it out yesterday at the Italian themed restaurant, more simple is good. And it was. Except. The nice ladies screwed up and forgot our order...for 1 hour. OMG! Ridiculous! I never screwed up orders when we owned a restaurant!!! Oh. Wait. I did. A lot. The food came and it was good. $8.70 for both of us including bevs. We had fun chatting for that hour. All is great.

"I said I could live in the other place but here is way cooler" (GTO)

Title is yet another Robin quote during our 3 mile walk of Guanajuato. What an amazing place. Seems carved out of a mountain with buildings sticking out of the mountain and a labyrinth of auto tunnels. Churches everywhere. Walk a few feet and there is an amazing path to one side of the other.  Amazing market. Friendly folks. This post will mainly be pictures with a little commentary.

Getting there...about 30 min from the RV park to being parked:

Sights around town:

Hey! Isn't that the old grouch we saw last week?

This is a KFC...the name didn't show up

Loved the market. BTW, it smelled fantastic! Everything was so fresh and very clean.

Yummy taco filings

Wish they had more choices of hot sauce to use

In Spanish we asked for permission to take a picture. "Sure, why not" was the answer! He asked where we were from and said: "Oh, the Panthers!"

Oh, yes, we ate. A fantastic Italian dinner on a balcony over looking the square. It was expensive, around $50.

Appetizers! Seafood on the left and Prosciutto/Melon on the right

Osso Bucco and Salmon

Stopped at a huge grocery store on the way home:
Amazing eh?

We're tired!!!
