Guadalajara (GDL)

Here's a report on what else we did in Guadalajara. Hope you read the other post on the Mariachi.

Guadalajara is the 2nd largest city in Mexico. WIKI. It is about 1'15" from the RV Park and an easy drive. To be such a big city, it is easy to navigate. As an aside, we noted that traffic is fairly disciplined in Mexico. People drive fast, pass on solid lines, etc., but it is kind of an organized chaos. They will yield if you persist and we have not seen road rage, horns blowing, etc., even in the cities. I'm sure it exists but we haven't seen it.

Anyway we found a public lot that only cost about $3 for about 5 hours. Then we scored. Robin's been looking for Tinker Bell stuff for the twin's birthday and there it was, in the store next to the lot.

We then walked to Centro
We don't understand this. It is a produce store and it is always packed. There is produce every where because it is grown here. We don't know why this store is mobbed like this all the time.

Of course we ate. This is right on the huge plaza and has to be an expensive tourist trap, right? Nope. We had superb meals for $30 total, including a hefty tip. Oh, and 2 for 1 Pinas! Hefty tip because Salvadore was awesome. He reminds us of friend Juan because he was happy and singing all the time - not just for us...we could hear him in the kitchen.

Poof! This is hard to do...we gave up on it in our restaurant

Then we walked around town. Block after block of parks and pedestrian streets. We had thought we wouldn't like Guad but we do.

Chris/Juan: what are these? It is what Robin asked you about

We drove home via Chapala. Comments in the picture captions.

That is a trash truck. The bad thing is we have seen more guys collecting trash in neighborhoods. They have to throw the trash bags all the way up to a guy on top who catches it!

Why yes, that is a gent walking his dog and goat on a leash.

Remember Tinkerbell? This shop is making us 2 piñatas for the twins incorporating the Tinkerbell things we found in Guad on to these huge 3's. Cost for 2 is $13! We get them Friday. Here's others:
