Weddings in Patzcurao

Weddings seem to be a big deal in Patzcurao and Saturday's are the day. Yesterday we saw evidence of at least two.

The first was in town. We were coming from a drive at about 1730 and saw this carriage stopping at the Basilica.

At about 2000 we encountered the same carriage coming down the hill leading to the main square. They rented this for a long time! The carriage must not have good brakes because note the 2 gents trying to hold it back on the hill!

Whoa Nellie!!!!

Whoa Nellie!!!!

Back at the RV Park, we knew something big was going to happen because 3 HUGE tents were erected on Friday. At about 1600, cars started pouring in...at least 100 if not 150. The party was on. At least 200 if not 300 (my new buddy at the the campground will tell me later). 350!!!

We came back about 1800 and sit down dinner was being served for all.

When we returned at 2000 the band was on a roll and had been so since 1900. Had to be a 10 piece band with brass, percussion, strings, singer, etc. They played until midnight without a single break!   At 2200 there was a professional fireworks show! Bruno did not like the show.

It ended at midnight. All 100+ cars left quietly...we never heard them. No door slamming. No drunks shouting or fighting!

Wonder what this all cost? 350 folks!

PS: It's Sunday morning and I was curious to see how many seating there were. Alas, they had already removed the tables and chairs. Took some pictures to give you an idea of what it looked like and the view from the reception.

Quite a feast and open bar

These were on wine bottles

Table center piece. 3 roses! Don't know how many tables

    1. Even with the very favorable dollar-peso rate, it had to be huge.
