Robin is already surfing the www and finding houses that would be perfect for as little as $60K,
The area is also known as Gringolandia because so many Americans retire here. The town closet to Roca Azul, Jacotepec, doesn't seem to have many expats. We haven't heard English in town.
The big pool at Roca Azul. There is another one. |

Road to Chapala, the town. |
We did a drive to the heart of Gringolandia: Ajijic and Chapala. We're not used to hearing English and have become pretty good at making ourselves understood (we never ask if they speak English..it is their country and WE should adapt). Store signs now include English and we heard English from Walmart shoppers. And, yes, Chris and Juan, I made jokes about Gringa Maude bitching about having to be with all these Mexicans and their not speaking English. I can hear Juan saying this!
But, of course, we stopped for a late lunch (we've been eating only one big meal a day and Steve has been losing weight, even if it doesn't show). How'd we find this? We just drove up on it and it looked good. It was.
The open kitchen. Spotless, 1st Class. |
This plate cost $9.84! And everything was awesome. (That's a sausage on top of the steak). They do it all: presentation AND quality. |
The Grouch is in Chapala! |
Then we continued on to Chapala
This is a 3 ft tall Pinata for $5.79. Can pick any theme and any age. |
Then we did Walmart. Like Walmart's anywhere. Which can be a good thing.
A great day.
Now come on you all can't retire their you doing that just to get away from me
